The Lenasia CPF member, whose name is know to The South African was arrested for his alleged involvement in kidnapping crimes in the area.
A Lenasia Community Policing Forum (CPF) member and his son–in-law have been arrested for alleged involvement in kidnapping and other crimes in the area.
On Monday, 28 March 2022, police reportedly seized a large sum of cash, allegedly ransom money from kidnappings linked to alleged kingpin Faizal Charloos who is behind bars pending bail.
LENASIA CPF MEMBER ACCUSED OF SEVERAL CRIMES
Lenasia residents have alleged that the CPF member/chairperson is behind the recent spate of crimes in Johannesburg.
He is accused of a number of crimes, including being involved in numerous kidnapping, hijackings, and extortion cases that have taken place in the suburb in recent times.
Residents have also accused him of working together with alleged crime kingpin, Faizal Charloos, who was also arrested recently with his wife.
The son-in-law is allegedly also part of a syndicate led by Charloos.

Mozambican national, Faizel Charloos (44) is believed to be behind multiple high-profile kidnappings and ransom demands across Gauteng and Mozambique.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Athlenda Mathe said an intelligence driven operation led by the Anti Kidnapping Task Team pounced on the alleged kingpin and his three associates during raids in houses in Lenasia, Benoni and Brackenhurst.
“At this address, police found and seized three high powered vehicles, 6 000 tablets of Mandrax, hard cash, a receipt of sale for a R1,9 million property in Bryanston, and several high-end luxury brand clothing,” Mathe said.
So far nine suspects are behind bars for crimes related to kidnapping and extortion.
Charloos and his wife previously appeared in the Protea regional court in Soweto in connection with two other kidnappings.
They were expected to appear again.
