No arrest in murder of Laezonia engineer

Mar 1, 2005

The 34-year-old Pretoria engineer and his 19-year-old fiancée were attacked as they parked their car outside their farmhouse in Laezonia during the early hours of Saturday.

Please note that this criminal incident is of an extremely sensitive nature.

The couple, who cannot be identified because of the sexual nature of the attacks, had just finished moving to their new house when they were attacked.

As the two climbed out of their car they were held up at gunpoint and driven to the veld, where they were forced to have intercourse with each other after being sodomised and raped.

The two were due to marry in June.

The teenager’s husband-to-be was shot dead when he attacked his rapist while the man raped his fiancée.

The teenager managed to run to the road and flag down a motorist, who called police.

Detectives from the Pretoria Serious and Violent Crime Unit on Monday took items of clothing from the dead engineer.

The clothing, which included underpants, contained semen stains apparently belonging to the attacker.

Investigators are currently analysing the DNA and are hoping to match the sample with DNA samples of rapists and killers on their database.

Police spokesperson Inspector Percy Morokane confirmed that investigators were following up on a number of strong leads which they hoped would lead them to the killer rapist.
