Well-known show jumper Roger Hessen is in a critical condition in hospital after he was shot during a robbery at his Laezonia plot north of Johannesburg.

It is understood a number of suspects entered his home on Monday night and shot him several times.

However, nothing was stolen from the property.

Hessen was airlifted to a Pretoria hospital and was in a serious condition.

The police’s Agnes Huma said they were hunting for a number of suspects.

“When we arrived on the scene, we found the had been shot in the upper body several times and nothing was taken from the house. A case of attempted murder was being investigated,” Huma added.
