A manhunt has been launched for four men linked to the murder of a 63-year-old man on his smallholding in the west of Centurion.

Erasmia police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said police responded to a house robbery in Boundary Street, Laezonia, and found the body of a 63-year-old man around 20:00 on Saturday.

“The man was found lying in a pool of blood outside his home.”

Paramedics were called after the police arrived.

Moloto said reports indicated that the man heard dogs barking and went outside to investigate.

Once he was outside, the man was ambushed by four men.

Shots were fired and the man was hit in his midsection.

Moloto said the men tied the man’s wife and children up with ropes and raided the house and fled with their valuables.

“A purse, a cellphone and a firearm were stolen,” said Moloto.

“The man was declared dead by medics. The wife and children were traumatised but unharmed,” he said.

A docket for murder and armed robbery was opened.
