The Doornrandje & Laezonia Sub-Sector Forum (DLSSF) as part of its social responsibility programme has entered into an arrangement with residents of the Lighthouse and Trust properties to identify verified South African landowners on those properties who are available for local employment.

An initial group of eight residents have been identified who are immediately available for work, including grass cutting and clearing of properties to improve security and limit damage due to veld fires. They will in due course also be trained on basic first aid, firefighting and possibly day-time patrols by members of the DLSSF.

We have drafted a standard casual contract of employment including the minimum rates of pay payable to these persons. Should you need the services of these persons please contact the Treasurer via WhatsApp to secure their services.

The payment structure is as follows: R220.00 per day per employee and an additional R30.00 for payment to the community co-ordinator who will schedule resources accordingly.

The co-ordinator is a resident at the aforementioned properties. No member of the DLSSF receives any payment for these services. As you are aware, the DLSSF publishes all its bank statements online at www.dlssf.co.za for public scrutiny.

In time we hope to increase this pool of available resources and believe that some may well become full-time employees of local residents.

We are also looking for volunteers in our community to train these residents on establishing food gardens, bee-keeping and honey extraction on condition that all revenue be paid over to these residents. As you are aware we have many ideal locations for bee-farming in our area. Contributions for sustainable gardens (compost, tyres, shade cloth, water tanks, irrigation piping, bee-hives, gardening equipment etc) will be greatly appreciated. We are confident we will also have volunteers who will provide training on removing alien vegetation.
