A 35-year-old man was arrested after he was found with an unlicensed firearm at the Mooiplaas informal settlement in Centurion.
The arrest came after police were tipped off by residents during a patrol operation in the squatter camp.
Erasmia police spokesperson Sergeant Tumisang Moloto said the officers began to search for the suspect and found him, with the assistance of the community, at his house.
“Upon searching his premises, a loaded firearm was found in the house and the suspect was immediately arrested and detained for further police investigation,” said Moloto.
