Police arrest trio for armed robbery and attempted murder

After a couple praying at the local stream was targeted, police are warning residents about the risks of practising their religion or collecting water from streams at isolated spots.

There have been repeated instances of armed robberies in Erasmia precinct, especially at Hennopsrivier along M26.

The couple had been engaged in religious practices at a local stream in the area when they were accosted by the suspects. Moloto commended the dedicated efforts of the team in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

However, he also issued a stern warning to the local community regarding the risks associated with performing religious activities or collecting water in isolated areas.

Pretoria North social crime prevention co-ordinator Sergeant Tumisang Moloto advised residents to exercise caution and reconsider engaging in such activities near secluded spots, such as rivers and streams, as they can present significant safety hazards. “The safety of our community is paramount and while we respect the right to practise one’s faith, we urge everyone to choose safer locations and remain aware of their surroundings to avoid putting their lives in jeopardy.”
